Kitsap Lake Boat Launch Closed May 23-25 for Algae Control Treatment

The City hired AquaTechnex to help control cyanobacteria blooms (blue-green algae) and harvest excessive submerged aquatic vegetation this year. Phoslock®, an environmentally safe product, will be applied to the lake starting Monday May 23 and will complete this work on Wednesday, May 25. The Kitsap Lake boat launch will be closed during the hours of 7:30 AM through 5:30 PM but the park area will remain open for use. The WDFW boat launch will remain open but we ask boaters to keep clear of the application barge to let them complete their work. It is safe to contact the lake water within 1 hour of the Phoslock® application.
