Kitsap County received approval to move to Phase II of Washington’s tiered reopening plan.
The county is among the cadre of counties to earn Gov. Jay Inslee’s permission to reopen more businesses such as gyms, salons and spas.
“All of this means we are making progress,” the governor told the Kitsap Daily News. “It does not mean we have stopped this highly contagious virus. Cautious, well-informed relaxation of COVID-19 interventions will be critical. We want to get this right so we do not have to go through it again.”
KOMO reported that in order to have a Phase II variance application approved, counties must record an average of less than ten new cases per 100,000 residents over a two-week period.
As of May 28, Phase II has been implemented in the following counties: Adams, Asotin, Clallam, Columbia, Cowlitz, Ferry, Garfield, Grant, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, Kitsap, Kittitas, Lewis, Lincoln, Mason, Pacific, Pend Oreille, San Juan, Skamania, Spokane, Stevens, Thurston, Wahkiakum, Walla Walla, and Whitman.
