Kitsap County commissioners partnered with Kitsap Community Resources to distribute $525,000 in CARES Act funding for rental and mortgage assistance.

“These funds will make an important difference to hundreds of Kitsap County families during this difficult time and we are proud to partner with Kitsap Community Resources to make this happen,” Kitsap County Board of Commissioners Chair Charlotte Garrido said in a press release from the county.

Kitsap Community Resources will oversee the CARES Act COVID-19 Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program as part of its agreement with the commissioners and choose up to 400 qualified households to receive financial relief.

To be eligible, households must make below 80% area median income, not receive any other form of federal, state, or local housing subsidy and their physical address must be located within Kitsap County, according to the press release.

Applicants must also show job loss or reduction of income attributed to the coronavirus outbreak.
