Over 5,000 Trees Were Planted By Park Volunteers

Forest trees perspective bright 957024

At the end of February 2022, Kitsap Parks became aware of a large surplus of trees that became available and needed to be planted quickly. The tree species were Western Hemlock, White Pine, and Western Red Cedar.

Natural Resources staff put the word out to Park Volunteers in hopes to plant as many trees as possible by mid-March. The parks that received and planted trees included: North Kitsap Heritage Park, Hansville Greenway, Newberry Hill Heritage Park, Illahee Preserve Heritage Park, Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park, Square Lake Park, Erlands Point Preserve, and Bandix Dog Park. Over 5,000 trees were planted at our parks in just two weeks!

Thank you to our Park Volunteers for lending us your time and sweat to get these trees in the ground at our parks!
