Notice of Public Hearing – Development of Park Land in McCormick Woods

This is a public notice that the City of Port Orchard will conduct a public hearing on the following project:

Site Description: The property is addressed as 1130 Bethel Avenue, Port Orchard, WA, 98366, and is generally located southwest of the roundabout at Bethel Rd SE, Bethel Avenue, and Mile Hill Drive. Parcel #4060-005-018-0107. Description of Proposal: The applicant has submitted for a Conditional Use Permit for a change of use to a Daycare Center which allows 13 or more children as specified in POMC 20.39.040. The existing use of the project site is a Group Daycare (mini daycare) and Indoor Recreation facility that offers bilingual and multicultural daycare to children from ages 2 years 8 months to 5 years 11 months from the hours of 8am to 5pm. The Multicultural Children Center also offers 3-hour instructional classes to the children, which is allowed under the Indoor Recreation use. The existing use of Group Daycare (mini daycare) use allows between 7 and 12 children. The business was legally established in November of 2021. SEPA Threshold Determination: This project is categorically exempt under WAC 197-11-800(6)(b) Required Permits: Not applicable. Applicable Code(s): Port Orchard Municipal Code Title 20. Review of Documents: A copy of the hearing record, including the application and supporting documents, are available for inspection by the public at no cost. A copy of the staff report will be available for inspection at no cost at least fourteen (5) calendar days prior to the hearing. Copies will be provided at the requestor’s cost. Comment Period: Any person may participate electronically and provide public testimony or submit written comment until the close of record by the Hearing Examiner.
