Bethel Road Improvements Sales Tax Measure

The City of Port Orchard previously completed the Bethel and Sedgwick corridor study, this improvement plan can be found on the Cities site at https://portorchardwa.gov/bethel-phase-1/ A proposed 1/10th of 1% sales tax measure would provide the necessary funds to complete the design and construction of the Bethel Road Phase 1 portion of the plan.

Bethel Road Phase 1 would include the construction of two roundabouts on Bethel Road at both Salmonberry Road and Blueberry Roads. The Bethel Road segment between Salmonberry Road and Blueberry includes sidewalk, bioretention swale, curb and gutter, bike lane, one travel lane in each direction, and a raised center median.

“The Bethel corridor is a major artery providing connections to SR 160, downtown Port Orchard, the Southworth Ferry Terminal, and large-scale commercial developments. The population of the city has more than doubled in the last twenty years and we need to improve the functioning of this critical roadway for not only the traffic levels we are experiencing now but for the continued growth into the future.” said Port Orchard Mayor Rob Putaansuu.
