On Saturday December 3rd, Deputies, Officers and other military and law enforcement officials hosted 107 children from throughout Kitsap County during the annual Kitsap County “Shop with a Cop” event at the WalMart in Poulsbo, Washington.
Armed with $200 each, raised through generous donations from citizens and businesses, kids paired up with cops and shopped for Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.
The night was a big success as after shopping the kids enjoyed snacks and a visit with Santa Claus. Afterwards, the kids boarded their buses and the cops climbed into their patrol cars and all went home with big smiles on their faces!
Deputies and Officers from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, Bremerton Police, Poulsbo Police, Bainbridge Island Police, Suquamish Police, Port Gamble Police, Seattle Police, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Patrol and the United States Navy participated in this event. A separate event was hosted by the Port Orchard Police on Saturday, December 10th.
Kitsap Shop with a Cop is a non-profit 501c3 organization that partners with local law enforcement agencies to provide underprivileged kids a budget and “police escort” to go shopping and enjoy a Christmas that they might not otherwise have. For more information, visit www.kitsapshopwithacop.com.
