Washington State along with Kitsap, King, Pierce, Spokane and Yakima Counties are continuing their downward trend in unemployment claims with the manufacturing sector seeing the highest percentage of recent claims.

The unemployment numbers for the state and Kitsap County have fallen for the past three weeks with the latest data showing Kitsap's "initial unemployment claims" at 518, which is significantly lower than the area's numbers from March and April, Kitsap Daily News reported.

The state's unemployment claims are down 13% with a total of 571,410 "initial unemployment, pandemic unemployment assistance and pandemic emergency unemployment compensation" claims, Kitsap Daily News reported.

Kitsap's 518 unemployment claims are four time higher than prior to the pandemic but are still showing a downward trend from record highs in March and April.

Among the sectors seeing the most claims besides manufacturing are accommodation, food services, health care and social assistance, retail and construction, Kitsap Daily News reported.
