Business Owners: Commit to Erase the Waste Today

As part of the Waste Reduction ordinance passed last year by City Council, new requirements to further reduce single-use plastics will start on January 1, 2023 at all Island retail food and lodging establishments.

Chamber Ambassadors will soon be visiting impacted Bainbridge businesses to help them prepare for the new requirements, but businesses already ahead of the game are now eligible to receive recognition as a Climate Smart Bainbridge business.

After signing a pledge to immediately reduce single-use plastics, the City will provide businesses with:

- A PVC-free window cling communicating their waste reduction leadership

- Social media promotion

- Newspaper advertisements

Customers can look for the window clings appearing around the Island in upcoming weeks and can also make their own pledge to erase the waste.
